OPERATE A PERSONAL COMPUTER USING MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP

At the completion of this course, you should be able to: identify and understand some of the key components of the personal computer; start and exit from Windows XP, access online help, and use the menu system; work with screen elements known as windows; use application programs in Windows; work with Windows Explorer and folders; create and manage file folders; manage files contained in file folders; manage deleted files that have been placed in the Recycle Bin; correctly handle, work with, and format disks; create and work with desktop icons; and use the print facilities in Windows

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS

This course requires Microsoft Windows XP.


WHEN YOU ARE READY TO BEGIN

Step 1: Ensure your Practice Files are installed on your personal computer. We recommend that you make a new Folder on your Desktop and name it Operate a Personal Computer. Click on the link to each File in the following table. When the file opens, select the 'Save As' option and save it to your applicable folder. Do not change the file name, so that you can locate the correct file when your workbook instructs you to open it.

Step 4: Access the Test for the applicable Chapter via the link below (Eg. OPCWXPT01) and save the Test to your personal computer.

Step 5: Open the Test on your personal computer and enter your name in the box provided. Complete your answers and save the document.

Step 6: Click on this email link mvcc@mvcc.org.au to forward your Test Answer Sheet as an attachment - don't forget to attach your saved file! Please ensure that you enter a subject heading in the email (Eg. Operate a Personal Computer using Windows 7 - Test OPCWXPT01). We will provide you with feedback upon receipt of each Test.
